The awards of Professor S. S. Davis:

25 years of drug targeting

1968 Professor Davis was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to undertake postdoctoral studies with Professor Takeru Higuchi at the University of Kansas in the field of solution thermodynamics.

In 1970 he was the first recipient of the Conference Science Medal given by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (GB).

In 1986 he received the Maurice-Marie Janot award given to reward an international-level researcher for the quality and innovative character of his research work. pdf

Also in 1986 he was presented with the the Scheele Award (Sweden) for work on biopharmaceutical aspects of drug formulation.

In 1989 he (with others) was given the Amersham Award by the Society of Nuclear Medicine (UK).

The 2000 Harrison Memorial Medal was presented to Professor S. S. (Bob) Davis at the British Pharmaceutical Conference. link pdf2

In 2003 S.S (Bob) Davis became an Emeritus Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham. In this year he was awarded the Eurand Career Achievement Award for Outstanding Research in Oral Drug Delivery.

2005 he received the Hoest-Madsen Medal for lifetime achievement in the pharmaceutical sciences from the International Federation of Pharmacy (FIP). It is the highest scientific award of the FIP. pdf1 pdf2

He was awarded a Doctor of Science Degree (Honoris causa) by the University of London, School of Pharmacy, in November 2006.pdf1

S.S. (Bob) Davis has served on numerous committees and panels including the British and European Pharmacopoeia, the Medicines Commission (United Kingdom), and the Science & Engineering Research Council (United Kingdom).

Bob is or has been a member of many learned societies, including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Royal Institute of Chemistry, Society of Rheology, Society of Chemical Industry, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Controlled Release Society and the Society for Drug Research.
